RE: Request for permission to make access to lake
We are the current owners of lots 4 and 5 of Loon
Mere Estates on Loon Lake, Vergas, MN. Our plans are
to build a home which will be our permanent
residence. We would like to make a small beach on
lot 4 which would make it easier to access the lake.
We currently have on order 100 blue spruce, 50
ponderosa pine, 50 scotch pine and 30 bur oak trees
in which we will plant on lot 5 and a few on lot 4.
Please refer to the pictures and the grid plot
sketch. On the sketch of lot 4, you will see the
area marked where we would like to make our beach.
The area is 50 feet between a group of trees. We do
not plan on removing any trees. Our total lake
frontage is 420 feet of which we plan on leaving
a majority of it natural. The area we want to change
is less than 12% of our total frontage.
We would like permission to remove the steep bank by
pulling the soil back 20 feet and making a gradual
slope to the lake. We would then seed the area and
grow a thick grass beach. Figure 1 shows our plans
for removing the steep bank.
Photos 4 and 5 show our shoreline with the arrow
pointing the position of our proposed beach. Photo
6 is a close up of this area. Photo 1 views this
area from the east and photo 2 views it from the
west. Photo 3 is a top view showing how steep the
bank is and making lake access very difficult.
Please consider this request keeping in mind that
our intentions are to keep over 80% of our shoreline
natural and we are planting 230 trees to create a
wildlife habitat. We enjoy nature and only want to
make access to the lake easier so this can be our
retirement home.
Sincerely,
yron and Sonya Gunderson
