69’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 200’ for the replacement of an existing 9’ by 16’ deck with a
12’ by 16’ living room and with a 12’ by 12’ deck being located 13T from the ordinary high water level. It was noted
that the applicants’ proposed development would be behind the existing building line. Hardship is a substandard lot of
record.

OF THE
OTTER TAIL COUNTY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
October 12, 2000
The Otter Tail County Board of Adjustment met Thursday, October 12, 2000, with the following persons in
attendance:

Call to Order - Randall Mann, Chairman, called the meeting of the Board of Adjustment to order at 6:30 p.m.
Minutes Approved -
Hearing no corrections or additions the minutes of the October 5, 2000 meeting was approved as mailed.
The following variance requests were heard:
Thomas E. Larson - Approved as modified.
Thomas E. Larson, Fargo, ND, requested a variance of 5’ from the required soil treatment area setback of 20’
for the placement of a soil treatment area 15’ from the dwelling and the attached garage. The property is
described as Lot 8, Block 2, Mooring Stone Addition, Pelican Lake in Dunn Township. Letters from Terrance
Reynen, an adjacent property owner, Judy Sumpter, Dunn Township Clerk and Grant Ohm, sewage system
installer, were read for the record. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request.
After consideration, motion was made by Randall Mann, second by Cecil Femling and unanimousiy carried, to
allow placement of the proposed soil treatment area right up to the adjacent property owner’s lot line as noted
in a letter from Terrance Reynen, the adjacent property owner, and right up to the road right-of-way and into
the road right-of way as approved by the Dunn Township Board of Supervisors with the condition that the soil
treatment area must remain at least 20’ from the dwelling and the attached garage. Hardship is the terrain
(bluff) of the applicant’s lot, which uses up about half of the total lot area.

200’ for the replacement of an existing 9’ by 16’ deck with a 12’ by 16’ living room and with a 12’ by 12’ deck
being located 131’ from the ordinary high water level. It was noted that the applicants’ proposed development
would be behind the existing building line. Hardship is a substandard lot of record.
