Motion
Robert L. Johnson - Approved/Denied
Motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to approve the applicant’s
proposed additions with the conditions that the proposed additions will be no closer to the ordinary high water level
than the existing main dwelling, that the proposed additions will be at least 10’ from the lot lines and that the proposed
additions will be at least 20’ from the road right-of-way. After additional discussion and consideration, motion was
made by Randall Mann, seconded by David Holmgren and unanimously carried, to approve a 3’ variance from the
required 10’ setback for the placement of a garage 7’ from the holding tank. After additional discussion and
consideration, motion was made by John Everts, seconded by George Walter and unanimously carried, to deny the
applicant’s variance request for the construction of a covered porch in front of the existing dwelling noting that no
adequate hardship had been shown and other reasonable alternatives exist that will not advance the structure towards
the lake.

OTTER TAIL COUNTY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
July 2, 1998
The Otter Tail County Board of Adjustment met Thursday, July 2, 1998, with the following persons in
attendance;
John Everts
Cecil Femling
David Holmgren
Randall Mann
Dick Sha

Kurt Mortenson, Assistant County Attorney
Call to Order - Chairman George Walter called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
Minutes Approved -
Hearing no corrections or additions the minutes of the June 11, 1998, meeting was approved as mailed.
The following variance requests were heard:
Robert L. Johnson - Approved/Denied
Robert L. Johnson, Verges, MN, requested a variance of 54’ from the required ordinary high water level
setback of 100’ for a two-story addition 54’ from the ordinary high water level, a variance of 5’ from the
required road right-of-way setback of 20’ for the placement of a garage 15' from the road right-of-way, a
variance of 62’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for a covered porch 38’ from
the ordinary high water level and a variance of 50’ from the required ordinary high water level setback
of 100’ for a 6’ high storage addition to an existing cabin 50’ from the ordinary high water level. The
property is described as Lot 28 and the West Haif of Lot 29, Trowbridge Point, Leek Lake in Candor
Township. Letters in support of the applicant’s request from John M. Ness, Victor Peterson, Jim
Radcliffe and Roberta Radcliffe were read for the record. The audience was polled with no one
speaking for or against the request. After consideration and discussion, motion was made by John
Everts, seconded by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to approve the applicant’s proposed
additions with the conditions that the proposed additions will be no closer to the ordinary high water
level than the existing main dwelling, that the proposed additions will be at least 10’ from the lot lines
and that the proposed additions will be at least 20’ from the road right-of-way. After additional
discussion and consideration, motion was made by Randall Mann, seconded by David Holmgren and
unanimously carried, to approve a 3’ variance from the required 10’ setback for the placement of a ■
garage T from the holding tank. After additional discussion and consideration, motion was made by
John Everts, seconded by George Walter and unanimously carried, to deny the applicant’s variance
request for the construction of a covered porch in front of the existing dwelling noting that no adequate
hardship had been shown and other reasonable alternatives exist that will not advance the structure
towards the lake.

I have reviewed your, application for cabin and garage additions. At
this time, I am unable to. issue the Site Permit as several setback ,
requirements, are not met, they are as follows:
