MOTION AS FOLLOWS:
Motion was made by George Walter seconded by Robert Schwartz and unanimously carried, to approve a variance to
subdivide a .29 acre parcel from an existing farmstead for permanent attachment to Lot 3, Elmwood Lane with the
condition that a registered surveyor's drawing must be provide at the time of conveyance arxi with the understanding
that a residential dwelling cannot be constructed on this .29 acre parcel.

MINUTES OF THE MEETING
OF THE
OTTER TAIL COUNTY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
September 5,1996 ^^
The Otter Tail County Board of Adjustment met Thursday, September 5, 1996, with the following persons in
attendance:
Craig Anderson
John Everts
Cecil Femling
Randall Mann
Robert Schwartz
George Walter
Wayne Roisum, Land and Resource Management
Karen Cooper, Assistan County Attorney
Call to Order - The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman George Walter.
Minutes Approved - August 1,1996
Hearing no corrections or additions the minutes of the August 1, 1996, meeting were approved as mailed.
The following variance requests were heard:
Ronald Francis Schallenkamp - Denied
Ronald Francis Schallenkamp, Sioux Falls, SD, requested permission to purchase approximately 8’ from the owner
of Lot 3, Martee Beach and a variance of 7’ from the required side lot line setback of 10’ for the constmction of a 12’
by 18’ porch 3’ from the side lot line. It should be noted that the porch will be 3' from the side lot line after the addition
of the adjacent 8’. The property is described as Lot 4, Martee Beach, Blanche Lake in Everts Township. The
audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by Craig
Anderson, seconded by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to deny the variance as request as no adequate
hardship had been shown. It was noted that the granting of the variance would make the neighbor’s lot more
substandard and it was also noted that with the additional property the applicant’s proposal still required a variance
from the side lot line.
Bryan S. Lonski - Tabled
Bryan S. Lonski, Battle Lake, MN, requested a variance of 103’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of
200, a variance of 52’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 200’ and a variance to construct a two
story garage having a height of iess 18’ and being 97’ from the ordinary high water level on the south side and 148’
from the ordinary high water level on the north side. The property is described as Sub Lot 1 of Government Lot 3,
Section 29 of Everts Township by Elbow (Bass) Lake. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against
the request. Prior to the public hearing the applicant requested that consideration of his variance application be
tabled until the September 12, 1996, Board of Adjustment meeting. After consideration, motion was made by Randall
Mann, seconded by Craig Anderson and unanimously carried, to tabled the applicant’s request until the September
12, 1996, Board of Adjustment meeting.
Rodney Richter - Approved
Rodney Richter, Verges MN, requested a variance to subdivide a .29 acre parcel from an existing farmstead for
permanent attachment to Lot 3 of Elmwood Lane. The property is described as part of Government Lot 2, Section 34
of Candor Township by Loon Lake. Curtis Guderjahn, the proposed purchaser, represented the applicant at the public
hearing. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was
made by George Walter seconded by Robert Schwartz and unanimously carried, to approve a variance to subdivide a
.29 acre parcel from an existing farmstead for permanent attachment to Lot 3, Elmwood Lane with the condition that a
registered surveyor's drawing must be provide at the time of conveyance and with the understanding that a residential
dwelling cannot be constructed on this .29 acre parcel.
