Robert and Dolores Blake - Tabled
Robert and Dolores Blake, Vergas, MN, requested a variance to allow cabin number 1 to remain a few
feet within the required side lot line setback of 50’. The applicants have filed an application to convert
their existing resort to a condominium cluster development. The required side lot line setback for cluster
developments is 50’. The property is described as part of Government Lot 2, Section 32 of Hobart
Township by Sybil Lake. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After
consideration, motion was made by Cecil Femling, seconded by John Everts and unanimoulsly carried,
to table the applicants’ request until the next scheduled meeting.
Tommy and Sara Reff - Approved
Tommy and Sara Reff, Fargo, ND, requested a variance of 22’ from the required ordinary high water
level setback of 100’ for the construction of a dwelling 78’ from the ordinary high water level. The

high water level at least as far as the proposed dwelling. It was noted that the proposed dwelling will be
an improvement over the existing situation.
Linda M. Rotz - Denied
Linda M. Rotz, Clitherall, MN, requested a variance of 9’ from the required top of bluff setback of 30’,
a variance of 30’ from the required side lot line setback of 65’ and a variance of 6’ from the required
maximum height of a water - oriented accessory structure of 10’ for the location of an existing gazebo
21’ from the top of a bluff, 35’ from the side lot line and having a height of 16’. The property is
described as part of Government Lot 4, Section 12 of Clitherall Township by Clitherall Lake. The
audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was
made by Craig Anderson, seconded by Cecil Femling and carried with John Everts abstaining, to deny
the variance as requested as no adequate hardship had been shown. The applicant must either remove
the structure or place the structure in a location that complies with the requirements of the ordinance by
July 1st, 1996.
Steven and Valerie Larson ■ Approved
Steven and Valerie Larson, Moorhead, MN, requested a variance of 60’ from the required ordinary high
water ievel setback of 100’ and a variance of 10’ from the required shore impact zone setback of 50’ for
an addition to an existing dwelling 40’ from the ordinary high water level. The property is described as

no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson,
seconded by Robert Schwartz and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 60’ from the required
ordinary high water ievel setback of 100’ and a variance of 10’ from the required shore impact zone
setback of 50’ for an addition to an existing dwelling 40’ from the ordinary high water level. It was noted
that the addition will be no closer than the existing structure to the ordinary high water level.
Douglas M. Lees - Denied
Douglas M. Lees, Battle Lake, MN, requested a variance to cover more than 25 percent of his total lot
area with impervious surfaces. The applicant is proposing an addition to an existing dwelling of
approximately 336 square feet. Approximately 30 percent of the applicant’s total lot area will be
covered with impervious surfaces after the proposed addition. The property is described as Lot 7, Block
3, Bonita Beach, Round Lake in Everts Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or
against the request. After consideration, motion was made by Cecil Femling, seconded by Craig
Anderson and unanimously carried, to deny the variance as requested as no adequate hardship had
been shown. It was noted that the applicant’s lot is very substandard and that the granting of the
variance would allow significantly more than 25 percent of the total lot area to be covered by impervious
surfaces.
