The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Craig Anderson and unanimously carried, to approve the variances necessary to replace an existing roof with a new roof having a 10/12 pitch with the condition that site permit for this project cannot be issued until the water and/or septic system has been upgraded to meet current standards. The applicants are proposing a 10’ by 44’ addition to an existing dwelling with an attached 26’ by 34’ garage. No action was taken on this motion and after additional discussion and consideration the following motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by John Everts and unanimously carried, to table this request until the April 2, 1998 meeting so that the applicants would have an opportunity to consider other alternatives. The structure will be approximately 120’ from the lake. Per the Land and Resource Office the top of the bluff is 125’ from the lake. The required setback from the top of a bluff is 30’. After consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried to deny the variance as requested noting that the Department of Natural Resources assisted with the establishment of the bluff impact zone and noting that other good building sites do exist on the applicants’ property that would not require a variance from the bluff impact zone.
