It was noted that public safety concerns in this area are minimal and the granting of the variance will help to eliminate an existing erosion problem. Goepferd - Approved Raymond W. Goepferd, Henning, MN, requested a variance of 10' from the required road right-of-way setback of 20' and a variance of 15' from the private drive setback of 20' for the construction of a garage and a retaining wall 10' from the road right-of-way and 5' from the private drive. The property is described as all of Lot 18 and part of Lot 19, Block 7, and part of Reserve Block E, Leaf Lake Pleasure Grounds, West Leaf Lake in Leaf Lake Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. Carmen Ford, Pelican Rapids, MN, requested a variance to permit the impervious surface coverage of the applicant's lot to exceed 25X of the total lot area, a variance of 17' from the required road right-of-way setback of 20' and a variance of 10' from the required septic tank setback of 10' for the enclosure of an existing car port and for a 2nd story addition 3' from the road right-of-way and 0' from the septic tank. After consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by John Everts and carried with Cecil Femling voting no, to approve a variance of 17' from the required road right-of-way setback of 20' for the enclosure of an existing car port and for a 2nd story addition 3' from the road right-of-way with the condition that the septic system must be placed in a location that complies with the requirements of the ordinance. Goepferd We are neighbors of the Goepferd’s and use the private drive named in this variance request. We have no objection to granting this variance and ask that the Board approve the request as made. The hill behind the proposed site will continue to deteriorate if the retaining wall and garage are not built in this location. We feel that this is the best location for a garage and will not be a problem for traffic. The private drive has been maintain by residents for many years. ?
