We bought this which is this We found out that we cannot add on unless we ask for a change of variance on set backs. As you can see in the drawing we want to add on the north side of our house to have a master bedroom and bath. We also want to put up a garage, as you can see in the drawing so we can put our boats and cars in for the winter. The house is find to live in for a few weeks, but we need the extra room when we settle in Minnesota with all our furniture from our house in Illinois which we will be closing on in August of this year. We do not want to put a second floor on this house, because we want to keep the house in same type of conformity with our neighbors. This house and our neighbors were built at the same time back in the 40's. The thought of having to make a two story home out of it - would not only take away from the conformity of the surrounding homes, but also would be costly to us to remove the roof and build on second floor. We hope you grant us the set back variance so we can build as soon as possible, as we will not have any place to store our furniture or belongings after August 30, 1994.
