Motion
Darol and Allegra Anderson - Approved
Motion was made by Steve Schierer, second by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of
approximately 125’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 200’ for the construction of 10’ by 30’
addition to a garage 75’ from the ordinary high water level. Hardship is the terrain of the applicants’ property. It was
noted that the proposed addition would be farther from the river than the existing garage.

^jj^arol and Allegra Anderson - Approved
Darol and Allegra Anderson, Fergus Falls, MN, requested a variance of approximately 125’ from the required
ordinary high water level setback of 200’ for the construction of a 10’ by 30’ addition to a garage 75’ from the
ordinary high water level. The property is described as part of Government Lots 2 and 3, Section 17 of Buse
Township by Dayton Hollow Lake. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request.
After consideration, motion was made by Steve Schierer, second by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried,
to approve a variance of approximately 125’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 200’ for the
construction of 10’ by 30’ addition to a garage 75’ from the ordinary high water level. Hardship is the terrain of
the applicants’ property. It was noted that the proposed addition would be farther from the river than the
existing garage.
Ahmad Khan - Approved with conditions.
Ahmad Khan, Cottage Grove, MN, requested a variance of 28’ from the required ordinary high water level
setback of 100’ for the location of a 27’ camper trailer 62’ from the ordinary high water level. The property is
described as part of Government Lot 9, Section 10 and part of Government Lot 2, Section 15 of Friberg
Township by Heilberger Lake. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After
consideration, motion was made by Randall Mann, second by Steve Schierer and carried with Mark Steuart
voting no, to approve a variance of 28’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the
location of a 27’ camper trailer 62’ from the ordinary high water level with the condition that the applicant must
work with the Land and Resource Department to restore and/or stabilized the steps and path as noted in
letters dated November 4, 1999 and June 29, 2000 and with the condition that the existing camper must be
removed before the new unit can be placed on site. Hardship is a substandard lot of record. It was noted that
the granting of the variance as requested would provide the applicant with a reasonable use of his property. It
was also noted that the unit would not be in the shore impact zone.
Michael Arone - Approved with condition.
Michael Arone, Buffalo, MN, requested a variance of 6’ from the required drain field setback of 10’ for the
placement of a 20’ by 26’ garage 4’ from the north end of the drain field. The property is described as Lot 24,
North Point Beach, West Battle Lake in Girard Township. The audience was polled with John Gilbertson
speaking for the request. A letter from D. Steve Klosterman in support of the applicant's request was read for
the record. After consideration, motion was made by David Holmgren, second by Bob Schwartz and
unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 6’ from the required drain field setback of 10’ for the placement
of a 20’ by 26’ garage 4’ from the north end of the applicant’s drain field with the condition that before an
permit can be issued the existing shed must be removed. Hardship is the unique shape of the applicant’s lot.
The granting of the variance will provide the applicant with a 20’ by 26’ garage, which will provide a
reasonable use of this property.
Wanda K. Borchert - Denied
Wanda K. Borchert, Rapid City, SD, requested a variance of 58’ from the required side lot line setback of 65’
for the placement a of storage shed 7’ from the north property line and 20’ from the ordinary high water level.
The property is described as Lots 66 and 67, Block 3, Crystal Hills, Crystal Lake in Lida Township. Mark
Borchert represented the applicant at the public hearing. The audience was polled with no one speaking for
or against the request. After consideration and discussion, motion was made by Steve Schierer, second by
Mark Steuart and unanimously carried, to require that the applicant place the storage shed in a location that
complies with the requirements of the ordinance by September 30, 2001 and to deny the variance as
requested as the applicant already as one structure within the shore impact zone and an alternative site not
requiring the granting of a variance does exist on the applicant’s property.
