PRINTCRB, FERGUS '*LLS. August 21, 1967 Ottertail Board of Adjustment Joanna L. Hope Variance for Lot 7 and 9, Amor Tounship To: From: Re; 1 uant to thank you for your consideration at theF i rst meeting of the 6th of August, then I would like to address some of the questions that did not seem to be completely answered. Lot 7 was acquired by my grandfather, Reu. A. J. Hulteng in 1909-1911. Lot 9 was acquired by my grandfather in 1934. 1 . riy husband and I built on the Lakeside of the road in I960 and from the very beginning we anticipated rebuilding another dwelling on the North side of the road. Ue had in tended to tear the old cottage down but after the zoning law was passed, we left it standing in order to preserve our right to build there. 2. There should be no concern about creating a back lot _ , situation since the 20 foot road shown on the NU corner of Lot 7 is a dedicated road that provides public access to 100 feet to the Uest of Lot 7, on the Uest side 3. Ualker Lake. of Lot 6 is the continuation of this dedicated road which provides 20 feet of public access to Ottertail Lake. Since Lot 8 on the East side of Lot 7 is almost completely submerged there is also access to Dead River on the East s i de . The Area of that part of Lot 7 which lies North of OT Co # 1 is 35,377 Sq. Ft. 4 . The Area of Lot 9 alone is 16,435 Sq. Ft. and with the addition of that part of Lot 7 that lies of the South of OT Co #1 would make the combined Area of the land South of the road over the required 20,000 Sq. Ft. and thus would meet the legal size for an Ottertail Lake lot. 5. Lot 9 is larger than the South part of Lot 7 and our6. home and garage would easily fit on Lot 9. The water supply was mentioned and as you know we have a sewer district. The neighbor’s sewer mound had to be moved as it was placed over our property line. It was moved to within 10 Ft. of the Line, but it still compromises the well in the old cottage. Ue are told that we can have a mound for sewage disposal and a deep well will handle the water problem. That is another reason the we want to rebuild on higher ground and farther away from the neighbor’s sewer mound and closer to where the well must be located. 7. From the condition of the old cottage and its location on the louest part of our lot and its proximity to the far NU corner of Lot 7, I think you can understand why ue would like to start from scratch duelling approximately where the two Basswood trees are in front of the old duelling. 8. with the front of the new The proposal that was made by Hr. Senec from the County Attorney’s office was a good solution. By adding the part of Lot 7 that lies South of OT Co #1 to Lot 9 which can be done by metes and bounds would solve the whole problem - Two legal lots would be created and a variance for building would not be necessary. I hope that you will adopt that so 1ution. 9. Ue have moved all over the country and Ottertail has always been home to us and our children. Our children and the grandchi1dren will take over the cottage on the lakeside and we plan to retire to the new one on the North side of the road .“> « -4 ^ r- « ■> -- . /Our daughter. Sue Sethre is planning to be at the next meeting and can answer any other questions you may have. Thank you again for your consideration of my request.
