The following supporting information and variance request documents written / assembled by Noel Morsch
Variance request as follows:
Replace dwelling gnd raise roofline by 9 feet - from 16.5 to 25.5. (See appendix 7)
t'The following constitute the purpose of the request:
1. Original dwelling was built in 1927 by my great grandfather and over time footings have sunk creating
the need to access the dwelling from underneath and periodically jack/ shim walls, however damage
has still occurred over time (see appendix 1)
2. Existing 2"'* level consists of 3 bedrooms whose irregular ceilings are sub-code at max 6'10" / min I'lO"
and we would like to upgrade to meet code, having an 8' ceiling throughout (see appendix 2)
3. Existing lower level ceiling height is also 6'10" and would like to upgrade to meet code, having an 8'
ceiling throughout (see appendix 3)
We request the following points are also considered:
4. Replacement dwelling will occupy the existing footprint
5. Replacement dwelling will contain the same number of bedrooms - 3 - which is the number the existing
septic system was designed to service
6. Increase in roof height will not obstruct the view from adjacent properties (see appendix 5)
7. Adjoining dwelling at 39556 was reconstructed in the winter of 2012/2013 and both it's foundation was
built up and roofline significantly raised - putting it's new roofline at just over 25.5ft tall (see appendix
(See appendix 4)

This letter is in reference to the septic system at 39542 Co Hwy #1 (P/N-02000990364000 &
02000990365000). At present the house is considered a three bedroom home. That system is connected to
a central community drain field system. At the present time it is functioning properly. All wells are the
owners responsibility.

Rodney and Connie Olmstead - Variance application approved as requested. (6:50 p.m.)
Rodney and Connie Olmstead, part of Government Lot 3, Section 22 of Eastern Township by Long Lake and Mary
Lake, requested the following: There is an existing 14’ by 70’ trailer house (980 Square feet) with a 12’ by 24’ deck on
the lake side and a 5’ by 12’ porch on the roadside. Due to furnace problems and water pipes breaking, the trailer
flooded and repairs exceed the value of the trailer. We would like to replace with a 24’ by 44’ (1056 square feet) stick
built structure on a floating slab with a 10’ deck lakeside in the existing location being approximately 82’ from lake.
Requesting a variance of 118’. This lake was a general development lake and was recently changed to a natural
environment lake. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After
discussion and consideration, Paul Larson made a motion, second by Michael Harris and unanimously carried, to
approve a variance of 118’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 200’ for the placement of a 24’ by
44’ stick built structure on a floating slab with a 10’ deck lakeside 82’ from the ordinary high water level as described
in the variance application dated March 18, 2014 and as depicted on the submitted drawings. The variance as
approved will not impact the immediate neighborhood, wili not place the proposed development any closer to the
ordinary high water level than the existing development and is the best location on the property for the development
being proposed.
Cami Schwantz - Variance application approved as requested with a condition. (6:57 p.m.)
Cami Schwantz, part of Government Lots 2 and 3, Section 4 of Otter Tail Township by Long Lake, requested the
foilowing: a variance to subdivide a 3 +/- acre tract of land from the 10 +/-acre parcel. The 3+/- acres will be
permanently attached to Lot 7 Block 2, Echo Ranch Riviera Seventh Addition which is owned by Donald Walz.
Variance is required since parcel numbers 46-000-04-0024-006 and 46-000-99-0857-001 indicate they are to remain
one parcel and not to be split. Glenn Howe, Professional Land Surveyor appeared with the applicant. The audience
was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After discussion and consideration, Rick
Wilson made a motion, second by Ward Uggerud and unanimously carried, to approve the proposed subdivision as
requested in the variance application dated March 19, 2014 with the condition that a registered surveyor’s drawing
must be provided at the time of conveyance.
Cynthia Morsch - Variance appiication approved as requested. (7:03 p.m.)
Cynthia Morsch, part of Lot 22 and Part of Lot B, Camp Hatton, Otter Tail Lake in Amor Township, requested the
following: request variance for replacing existing dwelling with new dwelling on existing footprint with new structure
location approximately 23’ from ordinary high water level and approximately 12’ 6” from private road easement.
Structure to be approximately 25’ 6” in height. Noel Morsch appeared with and represented the applicant. The
audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After discussion and
consideration, Thomas Lee made a motion, second by Michael Harris and unanimously carried, to approve as
requested the variances necessary for the replacement of an existing dwelling with a new dwelling on the existing
footprint being approximately 23’ from the ordinary high water level and approximately 12’ 6” from the private road
easement and having an overall height of 25’ 6”. The Board noted their appreciation for the very detailed
documentation presented with the application. The proposed development and the variance granted is consistent
with other development and with other variances granted in this immediate area.
With no further business, Steve Schierer, Chairman declared the meeting adjourned at 7:08 p.m.

Wayne(^tein, Secretary
