After discussion and consideration, Cecil Femling made a motion, second by Randall Mann and carried with Michael
Harris, Paul Larson and Rick Wilson voting no, to deny the variance as requested as no adequate hardship unique to
the property had been shown that would allow for the granting of the variance as requested and noting the following:
1.) the applicant has a reasonable use of his property without the granting of the variance as requested, 2.) the
applicant has an option to attached the proposed structure unto the proposed dwelling which can be located 75’ from
the ordinary high water level, and 3.) there is adequate room to place the proposed structure at the 200’ setback from
the ordinary high water leygL,^

Kermith Dybdal, part of Sub Lot 3 of Government Lot 3, Section 21 of Tumuli Township by North Ten
Mile Lake, requested a variance of 50’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 200’ for
the placement of a 26’ by 36’ storage shed 150’ from the ordinary high water level. The audience was
polled with Richard Casey, Mark Dybdal and Margaret Thunselle speaking for the variance as
requested and noting safety concerns. After discussion and consideration, Cecil Femling made a
motion, second by Randall Mann and carried with Michael Harris, Paul Larson and Rick Wilson voting
no, to deny the variance as requested as no adequate hardship unique to the property had been shown
that would allow for the granting of the variance as requested and noting the following; 1.) the applicant
has a reasonable use of his property without the granting of the variance as requested, .2.) the applicant
has an option to attached the proposed structure unto the proposed dwelling which can be located 75’
from the ordinary high water level, and 3.) there is adequate room to place the proposed structure at
the 200’ setback from the ordinary high water level.
Jon and Sandi Strinden - Approved the variance as requested with conditions. (8:29 p.m.)
Jon and Sandi Strinden, part of Lots 4 and 5, Martin Knoll, Pelican Lake in Scambler Township,
requested a variance for repairs including replacing existing flat roof with pitched roof on existing porch
located within 30’ of edge of bluff. We would like to shorten the screened porch and replace the flat
roofs with a pitched roof. Also, adding a false dormer on the west wing and entry cover. The audience
was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After discussion and
consideration, Paul Larson made a motion, second by Steve Schierer and unanimously carried, to
approve the variance as requested in the application and as depicted in the drawing submitted with the
application with the following conditions; 1.) no more than 25% of the total lot area can be covered with
impervious surfaces, 2.) the roof height of the main structure cannot be alter, 3.) the asphalt identified
for removal on the drawing submitted with the application must be removed and 4.) the footprint cannot
be enlarged. It was noted that the proposed project is normal maintenance and the proposed project is
moving away from the bluff.
John C and Sylvia F Hansen - Approved the requested variance as modified. (8:35 p.m.)
John C and Sylvia F Hansen, Lot 22 Recreation Beach, Otter Tail Lake in Amor Township, requested a
variance to place a 12’ by 14’ addition less than 10’ from the lot line (up to.2’ from property line). New
roof would come 4’ to 6’ unto existing roof. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or
against the variance as requested. After discussion and consideration, Cecil Femling made a motion,
second by Paul Larson and carried with Randall Mann, Steve Schierer and Rick Wilson voting no, to
deny the variance as requested noting that the applicants’ can obtain a reasonable use of their property
without the granting of the variance as requested. After additional discussion and consideration,
Randall Mann made a motion, second by Steve Schierer and unanimously carried, to approve a
variance of 5’ from the required side lot line setback of 10’ for the location of a 168 square foot addition
or less 5’ from the lot line. Hardship is a substandard lot of record.
