SPECIFY HOW YOUR PROJECT VARIES FROM ORDINANCE REQUIREMENTS. PLEASE BE BRIEF AS THIS WILL BE USED FOR PUBLIC NOTIFICATION. As shown in the attached site plan drawing, we wish to add a deck onto the South side of the existing dwelling, which was built pre-ordinance in 1935. The new deck shall be no closer to the OHWL than the existing dwellings south stair or approximately 35'-8", therefor, requiring a 164'-4" variance from the ordinary high water setback of 200’. Also, we wish to build a 38' x 40' garage. Location as shown on attached drawing. The garage will sit 102' from the OWHL, therefor requiring a 98' variance from the ordinary high water setback of 200'. Lastly, we would like to add a 38' x 16' concrete slab, location as shown on attached drawing to set a 35' x 8' camper (RCU) without water or sewer connections. The RCU will sit no closer than 164' from the OHWL, therefor requiring a 36' variance from the ordinary high water setback of 200'. We respectfully request a site permit for this RCU. We own approximately 360' of shoreline, covering 6 lots, the plot contains a wetland and the location of the septic system leaves little choice on the placements of these request. Assessor and the MN DNR L R Official/Date bk 072011-001 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE OTTER TAIL COUNTY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT Thursday, October 10, 2013 The Otter Tail County Board of Adjustment met Thursday, October 10, 2013, with the following persons in attendance: Marion Gill Thomas Lee Scott Ellingson, Land and Resource Management David Hauser, County Attorney Michael Harris Steve Schierer Paul Larson *Ward Uggerud *Due to a prior commitment, Mr. Uggerud was not able to be present at the public meeting; however, Mr. Uggerud did submit written comments for each application, which were read for the Board’s consideration at the time of each applicant’s’ public hearing. Mr. Uggerud’s written comments have been attached to and incorporated as an official part of the minutes. Note - The motions noted in the following minutes reflect the vote of the five members of the Board that were present at the time of the public hearing. Mr. Uggerud’s written comments were considered informational and not as official votes. Called to Order - Steve Schierer, Chair called the meeting of the Board of Adjustment to order at 6:30 p.m. Minutes Approved - The Board of Adjustment approved the minutes of September 12, 2013 meeting as mailed. The Board of Adjustment considered the following applications for variance: Robert and Janet Asmus - Variance application approved as requested. (6:32 p.m.) Robert and Janet Asmus, part of Government Lot 8, Section 25 of Sverdrup Township by South Turtle Lake, requested the following: Enclosing the existing porch and the 6’ by 17’ addition will be 6 ‘ from the property line. The required setback is 10’. Adam Asmus represented the applicants at the public hearing. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After discussion and consideration, Thomas Lee made a motion, second by Michael Harris and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 4’ from the required side lot line setback of 10’ for the enclosure of an existing porch and for a 6’ by 17’ addition 6’ from the property line. The proposed development is reasonable, will not increase impervious surface coverage and will not obstruct the view from the adjacent properties. The variance as approved does allow the applicants to tie the roof of the new development into the existing roof. Hardship/practical difficulty is the placement of the existing dwelling and the unique features of the applicants’ property. Larry and Karen Trosdahl - Variance application was approved-denied with a modification. (6:38 p.m.) Larry and Karen Trosdahl, Lots 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9, Fish Lake Beach, Fish Lake in Aurdal Township, requested the following; As shown on the site plan drawing on file in the County Auditor’s office, we wish to add a deck onto the South side of the existing dwelling, which was built pre-ordinance in 1935.
