Jerome and Lorraine Erickson - Approved as requested.
Motion was made by Dayid.Holmgren, second by Steve Schierer-and unanimously carried, to approve a variance
of 1 ’6” from the 18’ rhaximum height of a non-dwelling structure for the construction of a 36’ by 64’ by 12’ pole
building haying an overall height of 19’ 6”: It was noted that the proposed location of the structure is a good
location and the additional height will not obstruct the view from the neighboring properties. It was also noted by
Les Estes, a member of the Planning Commission, that the Planning Cdmrnission will be recornTnending to the
County Board.thatmaximum height of 18’ be increased to at least 20’,to accommodate.current building designs
and needs. Hardship is the terrain of the applicant’s property, which does help to hide the structure, but at the
same time prevents snow from having an ability to blow off the roof.

To: Planning Commission Members
This is in regards to your consideration of granting a variance to Jerome Erickson.
The building size is 36 X 64 X 12 with an overall height of 19’ 6”. Jerome needs the 12’ high door for him
to be able to store his camper. The minimum pitch on the roof needs to be 4/12 for meeting the snow
load rating for the State of Minnesota.
Lowering the sidewall height or changing the pitch on the roof system simply to meet the 18’ restriction
would not meet storage needs or snow load protection.
I urge you to grant Jerome the variance so both needs can be met. Thank you for your consideration.
