BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OTTER TAIL COUNTY MINNESOTA
Pursuant to Statute, the Board of County Commissioners of Otter
Tail County Minnesota met at 9:30 A.M., Tuesday, January 6, 1976, all members
present.
The meeting was called to order by the County Auditor who declared
the first order of business was to elect a Chairman and Vice-Chairman for the
ensuing year. Upon motion made by Andy Leitch, seconded by Bert Hovland and carried,
Hub Nordgren was elected County Board Chairman for the year 1979. Upon motion made
by George Walter, seconded by John Snowberg and carried, Andy L~itch was elected
Vice-Chairman.
Motion was made by Bert Hovland, seconded by John Snowberg and unani-
mously carried, authorizing the County Engineer to attend the Highway Engineers'
Institute at Alexandria, Minnesota January 26th through January 30th.
Motion was made by George Walter, seconded by Bert Hovland and unani-
mously carried, to approve the application of Donald W. Firnhaber for permit to
l'nld public dances and license to sell non-intoxicating malt liquor at Perry Place
in Dora Township· ..
Motion was made by Andy Leitch, seconded by Bert Hovland and unani-
mously carried, to transfer fUJ)ds from County Revenue to Road & Bridge for work
done by the Highway Department at Phelps Mill, in the amounts of $17,549.94 and
$36.98.
Motion was made by George Walter, seconded by Andy Leitch and
unanimously carried, to approve the plat of Cozy Cove in Government Lot 4, Section
2 -135 -40.

to have charge of the_Court House, Court House Annex, Jail and g~ounds fqr the
year 1976; purchase all furniture and supplies, except books,. blanks and
stationery, needed for the Court House and Jail during the year 1976 and provide
for such repairs as may become an immediate necessity; County Board of Health
for the year 1976.

was adopted:
· RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Otter Tail County
Minnesota,
·THAT the sum of ten cents (10¢) be paid out of the Revenue Fund
of the County for every pocket-gopher and wood chuck killed in said county during
the year 1976 in cases where the townships _in which pocket-gophers and wood chucks
are so killed shall provide for the payment of an additional bounty of ten cents
(10¢) for each pocket-gopher and wood chuck so killed.
RESOLVED FURTHER that payment of such bounty shall be made by the
County Auditor upon certificates executed by the Chairman of the Town Board o.f
said townships setting forth that the pocket-gophers. ·or wood chucks were duly
presented to the Chairman of such Board and that the township h~s issued and-de-
~li vered to each claimant a town::: order for twenty cents (20¢) for each pocket-
gopher or wood chuck so killed.

was adopted:
WHEREAS, it is provided in Minn. Statute 282.05 for the,apportion-
ment · of the proceeds from the sale of tax-forfeited lands;
WHEREAS, the County Auditor shall ~pportion the tax sale proceeds
to the taxing districts pursuant to Minn. Stat. 282.08;
WHEREAS, Minn. Stat. 282.08(4)(b) provides that the County· Board
.m.y set aside 20% of the proceeds remaining after the value of public improvements,
special assessments and bond issues levied on the property have.been paid, for
acquisition and maintenance of county pa!'ks and recreational ar·eas;
WHEREAS, Otter Tail County has parks and recreational areas which.
would benefit by such an apportionment;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the County Auditor retain 20%
of the proceeds from the sale of· tax forfeited land for acquisition and maintenance
of parks and recreational areas frol)l the proceeds available after making the neces-
sary statutory disbursements, said p~oceeds to be dishursed,:_accordip.g to law.

RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of O_tter Tail County
Minnesota,
THAT the sum of not less than $ 350.00 be and the same hereby
is appropriated out of the County Revenue Fund of said County for Otter Tail
County exhibits at the Minnesota State Fair for 1976, and the County Auditor and
Chairman of the Board are directed to issue a warrant for said amount in favor of
Clarence Mielke.

County Minnesota, that
The State of Minnesota Department of Highways· include
"Pelican Lake Road" on a sign on State Highway #34 where Otter Tail County
Highway #9 turns north, along with or adjacent to an .existing sign which
reads "Cormorant Lakes Road".

remain at the 1975 level until' union negotiations are finalized.

the County Nursing Service.
Motion was made by Andy Leitch, seconded by George Walter and
unanimously carried, to approve the application of Gary Bothun, Dalton, Minnesota
for sewage disposal system cleaners license.
Motion was made by Bert Hovland, seconded. by George Walter and unani-
mously carried, ·to appoint Norman Fjestad, Carlisle, Minnesota, to the Otter Tail
County Planning Advisory Commission, to replace Don Nelson whose term expired and
requested not to be re-appointed.
Upon motion made by George Walter, seconded by John Snowberg and
unanimously carried, the County Auditor was authorized to call for bids to be re-
ceived until 11: 00 A.M., Tuesday, February 10th, 1976 for highway sign materials.
Upon motion made by Andy Leitch, seconded by George Walter and
carried, the meeting was adjourned until 9:30 A.M., Wednesday, January 7th, 1976.

unanimously carried, Charles Beck was re-appointed to a three year term on the
Otter Tail County Planning Advisory Commission.

unanimously carried, th.e following resolution was adopted:
RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Otter Tail
County Minnesota, that
WHEREAS it may become necessary because of lack of sufficient
funds to hold issued warrants as unredeemed, and
WHEREAS under Minn. Statute 385.31 such unredeemed warrants
shall bear interest not to exceed.the rate of six percent per annum,
NOW, THEREFORE, the County Treasurer is hereby authorized and
directed to payuinterest at the rate of ~~x percent per anm1m on all warrants
unredeemed because of la.ck of suffici~nt funds·.
