HomeMy WebLinkAboutBoard of Commissioners - Minutes - 02/10/1970MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OTTER TAIL COUNTY MINNESOTA ·Pursuant to adjournment the Board of County Commissioners of · Otter Tail County Minnesota met at 10:00 o'clock A.M., February 10th, 1970, all members present. Upon motion made by Jim Bucholz, seconded by Andy Leitch and unan- imously carried, Edward Aho of New York Mills ~vas appointed for a three year term expirfog· January 1, 1973, to' the Planning"and Zoning Commission. Motion was made_, seconded and unanimously carried to table the resolution of the Otter Tail County Advisory Planning Commission which recommended. the County Board request each Township Board ad~pt an.Ordinance by July l,_ 1972, until further information is received. The County Auditor was authorized to advertise for bids to be re- ceived until 10 :00 A.M., March 10th, 19130 for the following equipment: 1. 1 Dump Truck -27,500 lb. G.V.W. 2. 3 Suburban or Carryall Type Trucks 3. 3 Tractors with 1/2 Cu. Yd. Loaders. The following applications for homestead classification were approved: Leonard C. ' ... -~ --·-•-•---· ., .. :__.__l ..... l '\ I l I ' / i The following applications for reduction of assessed valuation of personal property were approv~d: Jeanne O'Leary Russ Bjerke Olaf ·Rogneby Battle Lake Bluffton & Compton Leaf Mountain Should have been tax exempt Assessed for property no longer belonging to him Should have been tax exempt. The application of R. J. Miller, Lot 5, R. J. Miller Addn. to the Village of Pelican Rapids, was approved. Lot is a swamp and-has to be filled before it has much value. The application of Barbara Benson Underwood, Lot 1, Block 21, Original Plat, City of Fergus Falls was approved subject to approval by the State Tax Department. The application of Lyle V. McManus for reduction of assessed value on Cutler's Resurvey Lot 6, N½ of 7 and N½ of 10, Block 2, City of Fergus Falls, was approved subject to approval by the State Tax Department .. Motion was made by Jim Bucholz, seconded by John Snowberg and unani- mously carried to transfer $3,000 from the Revenue Fund to the County Attorney Contingent Fund. Motion was made by James Bucholz, seconded by Andy Leitch and unani- mously carried to approve the Annual Financial Statement for the year 1969 as pre- sented by the County Auditor. Upon motion the meeting adjourned to 10:00 o'clock A.M., Wednesday i February 11th, 1970. 35 . WEDNESDAY'S SESSION Pursuant to adjournment the Board of County Commissioners, Otter Tail County, Minnesota, met WednesdJy, February 11th, 1970, 10:00 o'clock A.M., all members being present. A resolution asking for the dissolution of School District #1488 was read and it was ordered that a ·hearing be held on said resolution at 10:00 o'clock A.M., March 11th, 1970 and that due notice of the tiinec and place be given as required by law. A resolution as~{ng for the dissolution bf School District #1498 was read and it was ordered that a hearing be held on said resolution at 10:00 o'clock A.M., March 11th, 1970 and that due notice of the time and place be given as required by law. A resolution asking for the dissolution of School District #1470 was read and it was order~d that a hearing be held on said resolution at 10:00 o'clock A.M., March 11th, 1970 and that due notice of ihe time and place be given as ·required by law. A resolution asking for the dissolution of School District #1395 was read and it was ordered thai a hearing be held on said pesolution at 10:00 o'clock A.M., March 11th, 1970 and that due not.ice of the time and place be given as required by law. The resolution asking for the dissolution of Common School District #1446 was taken up for final action. A discussion period followed and it was decided the Sheriff's Department is to look into the situation. The Board having previously advertised for bids for the sale of a portion of Lot 3 of Kalling's Subdivision of the NE¼ of Section 35 -133 -43 owned by the County of Otter Tail proceeded to open bids which were foul1d to be a~ follows: Fergus Falls Y. M. C. A. $2,500.00 Upon motion made by John Soowberg, seconded by Andy Leitch and unan- imously carri~d, the Board accepted the bid of the Fergus Falls Y.M.C.A., it being the only bid. A delegation of interested persons appeared before the Board regarding the location of a Historical Society Museum in the County. A discussion followed, no action taken. The Board having previously advertised for bids for the sale of a depleted gravel pit in Eqstern Township, proceeded to open bids which were found to be as follows: Harvey R. Peterson $30.00 Upon motion made by Otto Haase, seconded by John Snowberg and unani~ mously carried, the bid of Harvey Peterson in the amount of $30.00 was accepted, it being .the only bid. Upon motion made by Andy Leitch, seconded by Jolm Snowberg and unani- mously carried, the County Auditor was authorized to advertise,; for bids to be re- ceived until 2:00 o'clock P.M.-, Wednesday, March 11, 1970, for a 1970 automobile to be used by the Sheriff's Department. 38 J Upon motion made by John Snowberg and seconded by James Bucholz and carried, the following resolution was adopted: RESOLVED by the Board of County· Commissioners of Otter Tail County Minnesota, that HHEREAS the Board having previously adve.rtised for the purchase of an automobile for use by the Sheriff's Depart_ment and.contracted ,-.,ith the Minnesota Motor Company for delivery of a 1970 Buick LaSabre, same having been delivered to the satisfaction of the County Board,_ NOW THEREFORE, the County Auditor is hereby authorized and directed to issue a warrant in the amount of $2,450 to-the Minnesota Motor Company, which represents the full purchase p,rice.
