Mr. Hauser indicated that a report has been made that a German Shepard dog named Tazer owned by Lois & Eugene Bogenreif has caused a dog bite of substantial bodily harm. Ms. Bogenreif agreed that the bite did occur on May 28, 2015 and under state statute caused substantial bodily harm. During the summer tourist season, the population increases and there is a tendency to treat the area as rural and allow dogs to run loose. Gary Garvey and Janice LaPatka spoke about their experiences with dogs running lose from the Henry Farm by Franklin Lake. Lengthy discussion took place regarding animal behavior, dogs biting humans, and dogs biting other dogs. Issues with other animals such as cattle and pigs getting out of their fenced areas and causing damage were discussed. Sheriff Schlueter suggested contracting with townships for animal enforcement. Ms. LaPatka requested something be done regarding the Henry dogs attack on her dog and referred to M.S. 347.50.
